Technology is moving fast in logistics but not everyone is moving at the same pace, or in the same direction.
That’s why we created the Origin Logistics Technology Outlook 2025, the first benchmark study of its kind in Australia and New Zealand. More than 85 operators across ANZ took part, sharing their experiences, frustrations, and ambitions.
We talk to logistics companies every day and kept hearing the same story: despite record investment in technology, too many operators felt like they weren’t getting the results they expected.
We wanted to dig deeper. Not to produce another glossy outlook, but to take an honest look at:
Where logistics companies really are with technology.
What’s working (and what’s not).
And most importantly, where the opportunities lie for operators who want to get ahead.
This report matters because our industry is strongest when we learn from each other. The more we share what works — and why — the better positioned we are to collaborate, innovate, and deliver the kind of tech-enabled experiences customers now expect.
The findings highlight both the challenges and the opportunities for logistics operators across ANZ. Among them:
Only 1 in 4 companies are satisfied with their pace of technology change.
Integration is the make-or-break factor separating leaders from laggards.
AI adoption is real — with nearly half of operators already planning, piloting, or using AI.
And while Australians report higher satisfaction overall, New Zealanders are leading in pitching tech and early AI use.
These insights reveal a clear divide: the fast movers aren’t just spending more, they’re spending smarter — aligning their technology with what makes their business unique, not the other way around.
